11. Boshboil Pool.

An oxidized slag mound makes a colourful centre piece to this attractive pool, and is all that is left of the furnaces and coke ovens that once stood here. The name ‘Boshboil’ was derived from the cooling of hot coke from the nearby coke ovens in ‘bosh tubs’ holding water, causing much steam and bubbling. The pool was created about 1970, during the development of the site into a Nature Reserve by Warley Council.

Follow the main path bearing right and then left downhill, to reach black and white metal handrails on the right leading to a viewpoint over the lake.
